Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most famous and influential rulers of France and was a key figure in advancing the French through the unrest of the French Revolution. Although Napoleon ended up being an Emperor of a country that had just dedicated itself to overthrowing its monarchy, he was an effective ruler, creating a number of policies that resulted in the advancement of the life conditions - from economic equality to education - of the French people.
